FORT RODD HILL & FISGARD LIGHTHOUSE

Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site preserves the history of artillery batteries used during war time to defend the Esquimalt Harbor. Just next door is Fisgard Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse on the western coast of Canada.

EQUIMALT LAGOON DRIFTWOOD SCULPTURES

The Equimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary is home to the incredible driftwood art sculpture, Mc Gnarly the Beach Ent. This work inspired artist Paul Lewis to create a growing collection of other driftwood creatures which reflect the variety lf bird species often found at the lagoon.

UNIQUE CANADIAN FOOD: Exploring the Nanaimo Bar Trail

The Nanaimo Bar Trail features almost 40 shops and restaurants which serve a variety of Nanaimo Bar themed delicacies based on this unique canadian food, including Nanaimo bar lattes, spring rolls, cocktails, deep-fried Nanaimo bars, and more. The classic Nanaimo bar, named after the city of Nanaimo British Columbia, has three layers: the cool and creamy chocolate top layer, the comforting vanilla custard middle layer, and the chocolatey, coconut graham crumb base.

Lost Attractions: Stanley Park Zoo

The Stanley Park Zoo has a long history stretching from when the park first opened until it closed in the 1990s. Today the Polar Bear exhibit sites untouched and abandoned, the last reminder of this chapter of the Stanley Park's history.

STANLEY PARK: Vancouver's Top Tourist Attraction

Stanley Park is the top tourist attraction in Vancouver and was named the world's best urban park by Trip Advisor in 2014. I'm heading on a Stanley Park Tour around the seawall (part of the longest continuous seawall in the world) and will share with you the history of it's many sights and attractions.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 FILMING LOCATIONS

We take a look at Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Filming Locations. The film has been in production around the Vancouver area since March. For the past two weeks, Fort Langley has been transformed into the town of Green Hills for the movie. Sonic 2 is due out in theaters April 2022.

Royal B.C. Museum: Becoming BC and First Peoples Galleries

Founded in 1886, the Royal B.C. Museum consists of The Province of British Columbia's natural and human history museum as well as the British Columbia Provincial Archives. The Royal BC Museum includes three permanent galleries: Natural History, Becoming BC and the First Peoples Gallery. The museum’s collections comprise approximately 7 million objects, including natural history specimens, artifacts, and archival records.

X-FILES FILMING LOCATIONS (THEN AND NOW)

I took a tour of some recognizable X-Files filming locations around the Vancouver area. The first five seasons of The X-Files were filmed and produced in Vancouver, British Columbia, before eventually moving to Los Angeles. The series later returned to Vancouver to film The X-Files: I Want to Believe as well as the tenth and eleventh seasons of the series.

SHAW CENTRE FOR THE SALISH SEA

The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is a not-for-profit aquarium and cultural learning centre that focuses on the ecosystem of the Salish Sea and is located in the Sidney Pier Building on the waterfront in the Vancouver Island town of Sidney, British Columbia. The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is a highly regarded environmental education centre and popular attraction with locals and tourists alike. The centre has won numerous awards including being named "One of Canada's Top Ten New Attractions" for summer 2009 by Where magazine.

ABANDONED STONE BUTTER CHURCH

The abandoned Stone Butter Church in Duncan BC is 150 years old and has sat unused for most of its existence. This church was highlighted in a 1931 Ripley's Believe It or Not article which made claims of hauntings, and that those involved in it's construction all died under mysterious circumstances.

Old Country Market: Goats on Roof

Old Country Market in Coombs BC, also known as Goats on Roof, is one of the most famous sod covered buildings in the world. In the summer months their resident goats stand and feed on the grass roof above visitors. Inside is an eclectic market featuring unique goods that you're unlikely to see anywhere else.

Jim Shockey’s Hand Of Man Museum


The Hand of Man Museum showcases outdoorsman, hunter and TV personality Jim Shockey’s private collection of natural history and cultural arts artifacts. Acquired over 52 years of travel, this collection contains countless priceless artifacts ranging from a wooly mammoth skeleton to a megalodon jaw and tribal statues to taxidermy.

Abandoned Mini Golf Course (Coombs BC)


Coombs BC, best known for the Old Country Market and Goats on a Roof, was once home to a Captain Billy's Adventure Golf. Years later, this abandoned mini golf course still stands in a state of decay and is gradually taken back by nature.

MINIATURE WORLD VICTORIA BC: The Greatest Little Show on Earth!

Miniature World Victoria BC has been one of Victoria's most popular tourist attractions since 1971. Tucked away inside the Fairmont Empress hotel, the museum has 85 different scenes and dioramas depicting historic moments, construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, Frontierland, Fantasyland and more. In 2014 the museum was expanded to include all new dioramas telling the story of Camelot.

WINTER WALKING TOUR OF VICTORIA BC

We take advantage of a snow day to tour Victoria BC, the capital of British Columbia. Around Victoria's Inner Harbor are several incredible buildings including the BC Parliament Buildings and the Fairmont Empress hotel. Then we head over to Victoria's Chinatown to see Fan Tan Alley, Canada's narrowest street measuring only 35 inches across!
